Film review: Paradise Hills

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog. So, for today’s blog, I’ll be sharing with all of you about a movie which I watched recently, Paradise Hill. I was introduced by my relatives to watch this movie as he thinks the concept and storyline are quite interesting and he thinks that I might get interested to watch it. I do check on some details about the movie and it has received quite well reviews as they recommend it to those ladies who prefer to watch something about the feminist parable and presented it with storytelling method, character definition, etc.

To me, my thoughts when starting to watch the movie is that I got attracted by the music and the delicacy designs of the dresses, props and environment which it started in the beginning. It shows the day when the character, Uma is singing in the central and at the same time, it’s her day for marriage. It attracts me to make me curious and would like to know what will happen next and what’s the message brought to us about the mask which she wears while she’s singing. When I watch the scene, I thought this story will be relating to romance but I got shocked by the stories which happen next. It’s a fantasy, suspense and science fiction drama which talk about a place like sort of treatment centre for the rebellious young lady. In Uma’s case, she was sent to this place is because she has rejected a marriage proposal which her mom hope that she can accept. A bit of fantasy and girlish contents grab my attention to continue watching it.

So next, I will be sharing my thoughts on my unforgettable impression of Paradise Hills. I was so surprised with the casting and storyline which is that with the scene of while the journey Uma and her friends, Chloe and Yu tried so hard to escape from the ‘Paradise’, they found out a place which young women which have the same face as for them but they were closed in a dark underground space. That is just when Uma realised that the Paradise Hill is not helping to do treatment and giving lesson but by using those girls who hope to join the upper-class society, helping them do plastic surgeries, replicate the rebellious young ladies’ faces, gestures, acts, etc. The scene had quite shocked me as I didn’t expect something like this will be happening.

What makes me like about this movie is also because of the friendship which has built between Uma, Chloe, Yu and Amarna. While Amarna and Uma try to escape the place together and while their plan got interrupted by Amarna got told that she has graduated from that place earlier. Before she leaves, she never forgets to tell Uma to rescue herself and advise her about the milk which having drug so that the girl gets to sleep through the whole night and she hopes Uma can escape from that. Furthermore, she even hands in the hidden map which she has been hiding for a long time. This shows me the friendship which some people hope to be having that with no betrays and helping each other with full of loves. Besides, this message also brings to this scene which shows while Uma, Chloe and Yu are trying to escape the place, Yu got injured but they didn’t give up on her and this scene have touched my feeling. Overall, I would rate this movie 7/10. The storyline, casting, characters built was nice and I would recommend to those that haven’t watched this or even who are interested in Sci-Fi genre contents lovers.
